‘This is a 365-day devotional reader, with each daily reading rooted in Scripture and geared toward finding joy and contentment. It covers a wide array of topics with that underlying theme: sin, stewardship, relationships, patience, peace and a lot more. There’s no rhyme or reason to the ordering when it comes to the topics presented (at least from what I can tell) but all paint a picture that leads to contentedness and joy in Christ. The different passages are written by a variety of authors, and the styles are different between them. That’s neither good nor bad, depending on your viewpoint. The varying styles read differently enough that they’re distinguishable from one another, even though they’re all based on the same foundation and rely on Scripture to make their points. Unlike the men’s devotional “Daily Strength” which is by the same publisher and follows a very similar format, the different authors’ writings are not grouped together but are instead spread out through the whole book. This is a cloth-covered hardcover book. The cover is salmon-colored and there is a ribbon marker that matches the cover. Having a ribbon marker in a devotional is a bit unusual though I have seen this before. It is a nice addition. The font is readable and the pages are just off-white which makes reading this book easier on the eyes. I read a few passages to get a feel for this book and they seem to be on the mark. Scripture is quoted and is the basis for discussion, and I do not get a sense of a theological push or Biblical verses being taken out of context. Though the volume as a whole is marketed towards women, I saw some real wisdom within that is applicable to anyone. This is a beautiful volume and is a nice, year-long devotional for women. It’s bound nicely, it’s attractive and the devotional readings are on target.’ Matt Morgan
